Only now reading the lyrics do I realize this is a sung version of Kalākaua. If I remember correctly, Kalākaua was the very first hula kahiko that I learned with Na Lei Hulu I Ka Wekiu , my Halau Hula.
And I’m kinda embarrassed to admit I didn’t recognize it. And some of the wordsplits are slightly different, but that’s probably to be expected.

This is pretty cool! I really love Pumba he is such a cutie, and Timon’s expression is perfect.
Really confused as to why the lions and Timon are white though? Considering this was for the longest time Disney’s only movie with any representation of the continent of Africa and they weren’t even people, seeing them humanized but as white dudes is really, really off-putting. The lions remind me of Nordic lords, Skyrim style.
